Why such a low dose of buproprion and clonazepam?
Hi:
Psychiatrist prescribed buproprion for depression at 75 mg once a day for two weeks and clonazepam .5 mg twice a day for anxiety. I will then go back and see him after two weeks. My understanding is that a typical starting dose of buproprion is 150 mg a day. I took buproprion once before about 10 years ago and it was prescribed at 150 mg twice a day for a total of 300 mg a day.
I understand that antidepressants need to be titrated into the body over time. But I don't understand why the psychiatrist started the buproprion so low. And isn't the clonazepam a low dose as well?
Are there any other antidepressant medications that work well with buproprion? In particular, an antidepressant that helps with reducing anxiety? In the past, ten years ago, I used 50 mg daily of zoloft along with the buproprion and that seemed to work well for the depression, but I wasn't dealing with the anxiety so much at that time.
Thank you for your advice.

How to reduce anxiety?
Hey I'm 14 and I am extremely prone to anxiety. It is genetic (my mom and paternal grandmother) and it's gotten better for them over the years, but my anxiety is driving me crazy. For the past week, I've been feeling depressed and sad and thinking a lot about death. Read: I am absolutely not suicidal!! I just feel really sad about the concept in general. This thought goes away when I am engaged in doing something, but when my mind is idle, I can't stop thinking about it. Oh, and I'm not expecting my period for another week. I will be talking to my school's therapist tomorrow. How should I curb my anxiety?
