Confused between symptoms of a heart attack and panic attack. Maybe this article can help
Panic Attacks or anxiety attacks are sudden periods of intense anxiety and fear. Much like stress and anger panic attacks are caused by hormones released into our system in preparation to fight or flee from a perceived threat. This article provides a quick overview of causes symptoms and natural treatment options for overcoming panic attacks
Psychotherapy is an integral part of the treatment for panic attack. Support is given to the patient to eliminate extreme fearfulness and the feeling of something bad is going to happen. Sometimes psychotherapy is enough as a treatment for panic attack. However since the cause of panic attacks in most patients is not clear treatment varies from person to person. And in some psychotherapy alone may not be sufficient to eliminate the disordePanic and Anxiety attacks are terms that are swapped about so much that most people regard them as them same condition. Panic and anxiety attacks are a closely related phenomena and the symptoms of a panic attack may include problems with breathing. Panic and Anxiety attacks can be horrifying experiences and are much more common place than the person who suffers from them thinks
Anyone who has experienced a panic attack have at one point in their lives said 'Help! I am having a panic attack.' You understand that sometimes people will be experiencing a panic attack however they do not even understand what is happening to their body
Panic attacks can be defined as frightening yet very harmless episodes from the physical aspect. These attacks are likely to trigger at any given point of time or might be caused when a person has been exposed to several unpleasant events or accidents. Such attacks might shoot up and have very high intensity as well. But in some cases the intensity might not be severe but the symptoms might last longer than usual. Now you know what panic attacks are literally
Recurring and severe panic attacks have an incredibly negative impact on many people's lives. These attacks are highly debilitating and prevent the people who suffer from them from taking part in many activities and significantly diminish their quality of life. Panic attacks can manifest themselves in feelings of extreme dizziness tightness in the throat and chest racing heart and hot flushes all of which are followed by a full-blown attack
Agoraphobia?
An abnormal and persistent fear of public places or open areas, especially those from which escape could be difficult or help not immediately accessible. Persons with agoraphobia frequently also have panic disorder. People with agoraphobia characteristically become anxious if they even think about being trapped in a situation where it might be difficult to leave the situation. People with agoraphobia also characteristically avoid the situations which bring them anxiety or panic. Agoraphobia is highly variable in severity. People with mild agoraphobia often live normal lives by avoiding anxiety-provoking situations. But, in the most severe cases, the victims may be incapacitated and be homebound. The disorder affects women twice as often as men, tends to start in the mid to late 20's and the onset may appear triggered by a traumatic event.
Can someone that is diagnosed (severly) with this, be suicidal? Can Bi-Polar, and BPD(Borderline Personality Disorder) and Depressed coinside?

Should I try Effexor XR or Cymbalta for my Panic/Agoraphobia?
Hello everyone, have suffered with anxiety/panic attacks for about 20 years now. Usually, an anti-depressant will work for about 4 years, poop out, then another will be found to be helpful. Used Pamelor, Nortriptyline 150 mgs, from 1996 to 2000 with great results. Then used Paxil 40 - 60 mgs from 2001 unitl this year. Noticed that Paxil was really losing it's effectiveness about 2 years ago and would poop out more and more. Finally, in early May of this year switched from Paxil to Zoloft. Started Zoloft while still on the Paxil and tritrated up on one down on the other. Was pretty tough but handled it okay. Problem is I've been on the Zolfot 150 mgs for over three weeks now and still don't want to drive anywhere. Depression is pretty much all gone and no panic attacks unless I drive out of my "safe" area (currently about 1 mile). Pamelor and Paxil corrected this phobic behavior but no help from Zoloft thus far. Going to pdoc tomorrow (Thursday, July 26) and hoping he has some answers for me. I've been thinking, as has the pdoc, that maybe Effexor XR or Cymbalta will do the trick. By the way I do take Xanax in the a.m. and p.m. Usually, only take half of a .25 mg. I take a whole .25 when going out. Haven't been to work since mid-July and need to get back as quickly as possible. What do you all think? I really need some good advice. Thanks for all your help
Another thought is should I try another SSRI like Lexapro?
