In fact therapists believe that informing children who undergo panic attacks is a more suitable treatment than medication.

Locate a therapist that's comfortable working with children and this will help the child pin-point the source of the panic attacks.

More than Medication

The therapist will be able to show your child relaxation strategies which can help the child take charge of a panic attack. Children can be taught to be diligent in practicing such exercises.

Therapists suggest deep-breathing exercises and meditation to help children cope with their anxiety and nervousness. Both meditation and deep-breathing have been used for many centuries as a way to relax the mind and achieve a sense of control and balance.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy can be useful in treating panic attacks as it can educate the children about what creates panic attacks; it's also a good tool for teaching children about channeling responses. Once the trigger is spotted, the child can focus on the negative reaction and change them or at least switch them into a positive framework.

So, the key to the treatment of children having this problem is finding a therapist who can help them handle it with balance. There is little reason to rely on medication when a therapist can help the children without causing them to grow drug-dependent for the long-term.
