My Social Anxiety limits me?
Hi, I'm a 17 year old girl .My doctor gave me an anxiety questionnaire and the results state that I have Social Anxiety that is borderline severe (meaning that I have a hard time being around people) and I also have Major Depression which is extremely severe. I'm home schooled because I couldn't handle public school due to some events and I wasn't comfortable being at school either. Please don't tell me that being home schooled is a mistake because I know what my comfort point is and I was way past it. Anyways, the most irritating about this disorder is that I think people perceive me as either mean, awkward, too out-going extremely shy. I've only had one boyfriend and that was in Grade 7 (I'm in Grade 12 now) and whenever boys look at me, walk near me, or try and make eye contact with me I walk away really quickly because I feel really scared and nervous and I feel really bad that I may have hurt their feelings. I'm too depressed to be interested in anyone though I would like to be but now is just not the time and I don't know when it ever will be. I am going to see a psychiatrist soon but in the mean time what can I do to help cope with my Social Anxiety disorder? Thanks.
