Can high stress/anxiety/anger cause high heart rates?
I am a 17 year old athlete with a resting heart rate that varies between 50-80 bpm, i am also a smoker which usually only makes the resting heart rate of 70-90 bpm. Today i was going threw a lot of stress/anxiety/ and anger all at once, with not even a hour of sleep the night before. Today after running 5.5Km when i was in my other class talking to the person who was part of the emotions .I could feel my heart rate had started to rise more and more, i then had problems breathing. My buddy who plays on my team had mentioned I looked like i was in bad shape and i told him what my heart was doing. We then checked my resting heart rate and it was at 158 and still raising. About 4 minutes later my right hand had begun to go numb so we checked again and it was much higher this time at a rate of 186. My entire body had started go feel like it was numb including behind my ears and i started to get a head ack. 5 minutes later we had checked and it was at 189. Then About 6 minutes after the 189 heart rate my chest was starting to hurt. So i had stopped talking about the subject with that person, then about 2 minutes later my chest didn't hurt as much and my heart rate had dropped down to 136 with a total of 45 minutes in that class of my heart rate being that high. Still even after 4 or 5 hours the lowest my resting heart rate had been was between 123 and 146 at rest. I was also wondering if my pills that i take every morning "Adderal-xr 50mg" could have also been a cause, even tho i have had no problems with it in the past. Its been over 7 hours since the Rh-186 bpm and is at 120 bpm resting. What could be the cause and what i should do, i know my max heart rate is supposed to be 203 and my red-lining zone is some where between 189-203(on avg) or maybe higher since i run every day at 80% my HRmax. Thanks for reading this and hopefully answering my question.
